Convening for change

From 2013 thru 2017 I ran a monthly event series called Ladies’ Night. I was inspired to host the first Ladies’ Night after reading Sheryl Sandberg’s Lean In. Despite my "Girl Power" adolescence, I recognized myself in the pages of Sandberg’s book and began to wonder how gender was shaping my work.

I created Ladies’ Night in part to explore female leadership and workplace empowerment in the company of women I loved, trusted, and admired. From 2013 to 2017 our community grew from a dozen friends around a table to busloads of women I organized to attend the 2017 Women’s March on Washington. Each event was a collaboration with other women I admired, with a focus on amplifying a business or issue we cared about.
