I started Ladies’ Night a monthly women-only, meet up group for women in the food world. It began with twelve women, ages 29 to 58, getting together over dinner in my Bed Stuy apartment. We were all trying to run something—it felt good to connect and trouble shoot. I wanted to share what I was learning. There was no bra burning, no man hating, and yet this gathering felt -- and continues to feel -- radical. As of today, over one thousand leaders in the New York City food scene have attended a Ladies’ Night, with each event averaging one hundred attendees. Anyone who identifies as female is welcome. No boys allowed.
